The day I watched all my worldly belongings leave in an alarmingly small van in record time

That’s it.  Gone.  No more chances to change my mind about whether I really need to take the cheese grater or whether I should just buy a new one (why is it always the really insignificant things that wind us up?).  I have just waved goodbye to the things that are being shipped to the USA ahead of us, in the hope that they turn up vaguely around the same time that we do.  We’ll see.  The removals men were lovely.  They turned up early, at 8.55am.  We have such a tiny amount of stuff to take that they had finished packing the boxes by 9.30,  They were actually pleading with me to give them more to put in, especially when they worked out that we had an unlucky 13 boxes.  I did tell them to just pack a few random extra items and surprise me, but I don’t think they did.  Or did they?  Perhaps I’ll find out over the coming weeks….
